Diagnostic Imaging is an area that utilizes radiation and imaging equipment to examine the body to determine the
location and nature of an illness. Diagnostic Imaging procedures may also be used throughout a treatment
program to measure the effectiveness of the patient's medical treatment. Typically, these procedures are used as part of the
treatment plan from oncology, pulmonary, trauma, and muscular-skeletal (orthopedic) specialists.

Caring for the Community
- The Diagnostic imaging staff works in conjunction with the physicians to provide community breast cancer screenings.
This bi-anuual (May & Oct.) event includes patient education, and a screening mammogram (at a low cost).

Physicians
- A radiologist is on-site at Brookville Hospital for consultation and interpretation of diagnostic imaging examinations performed
at Brookville Hospital and its subsidiaries. In addition, a radiologist is on-call after normal business hours to review films via
teleradiology.
Staff
- All technologists are registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologies (ARRT).
- Many technologists carry an extra level of credentialing in their area of expertise such as CT, Nuclear Medicine, and Mammography.
- Ultrasound technologists are registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
- All technologists meed the continuing education requirement set by the ARRT and ARDMS in order to maintain licensure.
Facility
- To best serve the diverse needs of our patients, the department includes a collection of high-tech equipment. This state-of-the-art
equipment provides advanced imaging and enhanced patient comfort. Because most equipment produces ionized radiation, protective devces and
protective measures are utilized to ensure safety for staff, patients, and all visitors to the department.
Accreditation
- The Diagnostic imaging facility complies with all requirements of the American College of Radiology, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the
Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, and the Food and Drug Administration. The following areas of the Diagnostic Imaging
Department are accredited by the ACR: Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, and MRI.
Affiliations
- The Brookville Hospital Radiology department is affiliated with Mount Aloysius College as a clinical site for
radiology students.
